Troop "K" was an original designated troop. The first Troop "K" Headquarters was located at the Gedney Farms, White Plains, NY. The patrol area was all of Long Island north to the southern border of the Troop "G" area bounded on the east by Connecticut & on the west by Pennsylvania & New Jersey.
The first Troop "K" commander was Ray D. Richman.

The Troop "K" Gedney Farms barracks burned in 1924, displacing the Troopers. From 1924 to 1929 they occupied the White Plains Armory.
The well known Hawthorn barracks was designed by architect Sullivan Jones and completed in 1929.
