GEORGE S. HEISEL      posted 12/14/2011

George S. Heisel was born on 16 June 1913  in Rochester, NY . He was sworn in as a Trooper in May 1936 and resigned in November 1936 having served less than six months. George now resides in a nursing home in Colorado and has failing memory. He never attended the State Police School  during his brief career. He left the troopers establishing the successful National Ambulance Service of Rochester.

HOWARD C. BLANDING   posted 12/14/1011

Corporal Howard C. Blanding born on June 26, 1914 in East Aurora, NY is considered the oldest living New York State Trooper having served from the fall of 1936 to May 1, 1946. As did many patriotic troopers during WW II, Howard enlisted in the US Coast Guard serving in the Pacific Theatre from July 1, 1942 to January 1, 1946. He witnessed the raising of the American Flag at Iwo Jima on Mount Surabachi. He returned to his trooper position serving until May 1, 1946, when he went on GI leave never to return. He Found his niche in photography establishing a successful business in Fredonia, NY. About to turn 97 years of age, his memory and recollections of the old time troopers are priceless.
